4. If You Can’t Beat ‘Um Join ‘Em

No matter how much emotional toothbrushing is done, humans will always have the Spirit, Shadow syndrome. The angel and devil that will sit upon our shoulders forever, no matter how much “emotional toothbrushing” we do. So if you find that you just can’t defeat your shadows, then make peace with your bad self.
I think in some aspects that’s why God created both spaces for humans to play in: The material world, which most of us have come to call reality.  And the world of imagination and play.

If you have a dark side, a side that could potentially hurt others around you, show it love anyway.  Know that you don’t have to manifest everything from your inner world into this external one and make peace with the fact that we live in a world of juxtaposition. We each have the capacity to show great love, empathy, and compassion. At the same time, we also have the capacity to be ignorant, rude, and selfish.

I think society makes us feel as though we need to choose one or the other. “You can’t have your cake and eat it too.” Well, I have found that is simply not true. I can have everything I need and want to take care of myself, and when I am whole and well taken care of, then that automatically spills over to those around me.
So, if you have a day where you are just don’t seem to be getting anywhere clearing your cloudy conscious skies, show yourself some grace and simply repeat, “this too shall pass.”
